I can't believe I'm heading into my 8th summer as the BHAC head coach. I’ve been teaching 7th grade Math and coaching the swim team at Derby Middle School for the past 20 years. I’ve also been coaching in the NSSL for over 20 years. I also coach club swimming in the winter for Atlantis Swimming. I swam competitively for 12 years with teams at Heart of the Hills Swim Club, OLY, and Rochester Adams HS before moving on to my freshman year at Oakland University where I was an All-American. Outside of the pool I am a huge Detroit sports fan and enjoy watching football and hockey in the winter and Tigers baseball in the summer. A fun fact that most people don’t know about me is that during my first year swimming at HHSC, when I was 7 yrs old, I was disqualified in every meet swimming the 25 Butterfly – UNTIL the last meet which was at BHAC! I’m really excited about our upcoming season and can’t wait to spend the summer with the great swimmers and families at BHAC!
I have coached age-group swimming in the area for over 20 years! I coach during the short-course season for Atlantis. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in education in 1994 and 2001. I have been teaching for 20 years in the Dearborn Public Schools system. I am looking forward to summer fun with the BHAC swim team again this year!
I have been coaching young swimmers since I graduated with a degree in Kinesiology in 2004 from Michigan State University. I have taught swim lessons and coached for Atlantis, Motor City Aquatics, BAC, Goldfish, and BHAC. I have a background in sports medicine and injury prevention. I think to think of myself as an energetic coach who tries to inspire athletes to do their best. In addition to helping coach the BHAC swim team, I have been running the BHAC pre-team and will do so again this year! I am excited to be back with BHAC!
This will only be my second year coaching with BHAC, but my 9th year altogether. I am thrilled to be back this season with all of you and I look forward to sharing in the summer swim experience again. I'm in my 6th year teaching physical education at Pembroke Elementary. I swam from freshman year of high school through senior year at Eastern Michigan University. May still have a record or two from either place, but look forward to preparing our BHAC kiddos to surpass them. I learned swimming quite late, as you read above, so my technique was painfully learned the hard way through training, not so much through drills. So I understand, and appreciate the value and necessity of technique work in the pool. Which is why I enjoy working for the BHAC program, not to mention the wonderful families and coaches that make this club feel like home.
This summer will be my second year as a BHAC assistant coach! I just finished my second year at the University of Michigan studying pre medicine. I have been a part of the BHAC swim team as long as I can remember. The team spirit and energy has always been one of my favorite parts about this team. Aside from the Sharks, I was a four year varsity swimmer for the Groves swim team as well as senior captain. Outside of the pool, I enjoy spending most of my time with my friends & family and am a frequent watcher of old Disney movies. I’m looking forward to this summer and coaching alongside Tom and all the other coaches with the energy and spirit that motivated me through all my past summers as a Shark!
This summer will be Kyle's first year as an assistant coach at BHAC! Welcome back in your new capacity!
